TitleCarpenter Foreman Reports toOperations Manager Job PurposeA Carpenter Foreman performs journeyman level work in rough and finish carpentry in alteration and construction of buildings, cabinets, specialty wood items and general remodeling. The Carpenter Foreman supervises and coordinates the work of multiple crews of workers. Additionally, Carpenter Foreman is responsible for seeing that the Carpenter Supervisors and workers under them do their job skillfully and efficiently, and that assigned work progresses on schedule. Education and TrainingTo become a Carpenter Foreman one must demonstrate proficiency as a Carpenter Supervisor and as a craftsman must illustrate an above average knowledge of all facets of a particular trade and do noticeably good work consistently. A Carpenter Foreman should have the same basic aptitude and interests as those working in the craft being supervised, plus additional reading, writing, and math skills. The ability to motivate workers and communicate with them and superiors is essential. A Carpenter Foreman must often lead by example and gain the respect of employees. Typically a Carpenter Foreman has a minimum of 5-8 years in the trade. Advancement PotentialBeing an entry level/first line management position, a Carpenter Foreman who exhibits solid rapport and communicates with his or her workers and superiors, who leads by example, who has outstanding skills and trade knowledge, who gets the job done properly and on schedule, and who works to improve his/her management skills will often be in line for promotion. Pay ScaleRange is $22-$28/hr Carpenter Foreman receive an enhanced benefit package. |
